Give ALP members a conscience vote and remember Thomas Jefferson’s advice:
The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.

Society has ‘endured’ the abolition of slavery, the finding that the earth was not flat, the acceptance of equal employment for women and a miriad of other shibboleths.
History generally determines that where injustice exists, or new evidence emerges, it is only a matter of time before the obvious is accepted. The contemporary issue of same-sex relationships/marriage, will be viewed by future generations in a similar manner as slavery and child emplyment is considered by this generation.
Aritstole: “The worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal”.
Think about that.
Here, Here Bob! This is not an issue of “Special Rights” its an extension of basic “Civil Rights” The ALP have a great history on issues surrounding Gay and Lesbian Law Reform, let us (Progressives) not shy away from this one.
