Foreign Minister Bob Carr with New Zealand Shadow Foreign Minister the Hon Phil Goff in Canberra on February 25, 2013. They discussed the Pacific, the Middle East and New Zealanders’ long-term residency in Australia.
Thanks Phil Goff for standing up for the many thousands of New Zealanders who are long term residents of Australia. Without a vote in New Zealand and no pathway to Permanent residency in Australia we are virtually stateless and easily ignored by the governments of both countries.
Bob Carr – the current goverment has been talking about fixing this ‘anomoly’ for years, I hope we finally see some changes….
When thinking about our ‘brothers & sisters’ in New Zealand, I’ve sometimes wondered, try to envision, whether it is possible that some time into the future our two great nations ought not to consider a kind of federation, incorporating all South-Pacific Island Nations?

Movie review – Mabo (2012)
These days nothing would appeal to me less than taking off a few hours and losing myself at the movies. But I have managed some interesting movies on planes when I get too tired to read the briefing documents or a serious book. Click here to read my latest reviews.
