Read Eaarth. Now.
Please read Bill McKibben’s Eaarth (published this year by Black Inc.). I’m two chapters into it. It is the best summation of climate change for a general reader. McKibben says the planet is different from the one we lived on 20 years ago when he wrote The End of Nature. Its hydrology is different. Hence the massive downfalls, hence the floods. Climate change may have a life of its own and may be impossible to reverse.
Just read it.
If you read nothing else, read Eaarth.
