For an interesting discussion on preventative health and public policy see The New York Times (November 5 2010) profile of Dr Thomas A Farley, the New York City Health Commissioner who wants a tax on soda drinks and a ban on use of food stamps to purchase Coca Cola.

He is the bureaucrat behind Mayor Bloomberg’s initiative banning trans fat and reducing salt in processed foods and calorie counts on fast service menus, now being capped here.
