NSW Electricity Privatisation.

December 13, 2010

As the process reaches its end spare a thought for what a sale in 1997 would have yielded : $30 to $35 billion for investment in strengthening the budget and building new public works. Compared with the $5 billion expected at the end of the current process made necessary by the party policy. But no, the precious folk at the 1997 party conference had to stage their little demonstration for Fabian principle and the cob-webbed Socialist Objective.

To repeat the gesture against Morris Iemma a decade later and turn him out of the Premier’s job for good measure confirms the collective ill-judgment.

I dont call the rejection of privatisation a “cobwebed idea” at all. Bob by you saying that just goes to show haw far the higher eschalons of the ALP have “lurched to the right” on these matters. Thats why Labor today has a brand image thats toxic.
